چکیده

The results of our studies on the extraction and disposition of three plasticizing substances which are extracted from poly(vinyl chloride) medical devices will be reported. The plasticizers are di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), di-2-ethylhexyl adipate (DEHA), and butylglycolyl butyl phthalate (BGBP). DEHP extraction will be described in greater detail, and the two other plasticizers, DEHA and BGBP, will only be mentioned briefly. The compound DEHP is an aromatic diacid ester that meets the physical criteria needed to soften and plasticize the rigid polymer poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). As a

Evaluation of the Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate released from polyvinyl chloride medical devices that contact blood

Extraction methods that simulate those used in the clinic are recommended for obtaining extraction solutions. For polyvinyl chloride (PVC) medical devices that have contact with human blood, an alternative medium (ethanol/water mixture) is suggested as an extraction screening vehicle to evaluate the di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) released. A test comparing the extraction ability between the a...

Use of Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate–Containing Medical Products and Urinary Levels of Mono(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Infants

OBJECTIVE Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a plasticizer used in medical products made with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and may be toxic to humans. DEHP is lipophilic and binds noncovalently to PVC, allowing it to leach from these products. Medical devices containing DEHP are used extensively in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Among neonates in NICUs, we studied exposure to DEHP...

Histological and Ultrastructure Changes Induced by Di {2-ethylhexyl} Phthalate (dehp) in the Alveolar Tissue of Adult Albino Rats and the Possibility of Recovery

Phthalates are materials with a wide spectrum of industrial applications. High molecular weight phthalates are primarily used as plasticizers in the manufacture of flexible vinyl. Low molecular weight phthalates are used in personal-care products, as solvents for cellulose acetate, and in making lacquers, varnishes, and coatings [1]. A quarter of the plasticizers produced are made of di-(2-ethy...

Investigation of Di-ethylhexyl Phthalate Migration by Applying Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction Method Followed by GC-FID Determination

Background and Objectives: The addition of plasticizers (mainly phthalates and adipates) makes plastic flexible and popular for packaging, storing and preserving food, water, and so on. The most widely used plasticizer in food contact applications is di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) though being suspected to have carcinogenic and estrogenic properties. The aim of this study is application of magn...

A Study of Isotherms and Adsorption Kinetic of Di (2-Ethylhexyl) Phthalate by Nano Cellulose from Aqueous Solutions

Introduction: Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is one of the most abundant phthalate esters and it is widely used as softeners in plastic products. Malformation, carcinogenicity, the poisoning of the reproductive system, and also the disruption of the human endocrine system are the harmful effects of these substances. Materials and Methods: In this research, the removal of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthal...
